Berik Yelbergenov, oil metering engineer at the custody transfer station Kumkol. Clearly, the Year of Blue-Collar Jobs has become an important milestone in promoting the work of those who are invisible in the workplace but who ensure the stability of the country's economy. Berik Yelbergenov’s contributions are worth noting in this regard, a specialist who has been continuously working in the oil and gas industry for the past fifteen years.

Declaration of 2025 as the " Year of Blue-Collar Jobs" on the initiative of the Head of State is an opportunity to re-evaluate the simple, yet extremely important work that underpins the country's development. This not only provides incentive for the vocational education system but also demonstrates recognition of the work of true professionals who work tirelessly at all levels of production, as well as their significant place in society. The daily work of oil metering engineer Berik Yelbergenov, who works at the Kumkol pump station of Kazakhstan-China Pipeline LLP, entails a great deal of responsibility that may go unnoticed. Accurately recording oil volumes, monitoring quality indicators, determining temperature and density, taking samples, and maintaining technical and accounting records – all of this must be carried out in strict compliance with standards and requirements.
“In this field, I realized early on that not only knowledge is needed, but also a great deal of responsibility, discipline, and precision. My career since 2010 has been concentrated in just one company – Kazakhstan–China Pipeline LLP. I first gained experience at South Oil, and then was transferred to the Kumkul field", the specialist explains.
Berik Yelbergenov was born in 1988 in the village of Kelintobe in the Zhanakorgan district of the Kyzylorda region. After graduating from a regular village school, the young man consciously chose a career in engineering. He graduated from the Satbayev Kazakh National Technical University in Almaty and later earned a master's degree in oil and gas engineering.
"Teamwork is extremely important in this field. Our work demands precision. One metering error can impact the entire production chain. Therefore, we pay close attention to every measurement, every number", says the specialist. Despite the introduction of automated systems and advanced technologies in the industry, the requirements for controlled human factors remain high. Mastering equipment, applying methods correctly, and adhering to standards are integral parts of an engineer's daily work. Therefore for Berik Kultasovich, work is not only a professional duty but also a life principle. This quality was passed down to him from his family. His father was a rural teacher, and his mother a medical specialist. Raised from childhood to love learning, honesty, and responsibility, he instills these values in his children today. As a father of three, he considers it his primary duty to raise his son and daughter to be hardworking, disciplined, and productive citizens.
“We believe that the Year of Blue-Collar Jobs is an important milestone dedicated to the work of invisible citizens in production. Highly qualified specialists, such as oil metering engineers, are a guarantee of energy security and industrial discipline. We strive to be a bright example of a blue-collar job based on honesty, professionalism, and stability. Thanks to responsible, conscientious, and patriotic citizens, both industry and the state are confidently moving forward." –Berik Yelbergenov shared.
One of his unique aspects – he regularly leads healthy lifestyle, is engaged in sports. Even outside of work, the specialist leads an active lifestyle. Since childhood, he showed an interest in team sports such as volleyball, basketball, and football, which instilled in him discipline, endurance, and team spirit.
